Q. How Do I Start And Stop The Flymo EasiLife / EasiLife GO?

Once installed and the calibrated to the lawn. You can quickly stop a robotic lawnmower by simply pressing the large STOP button on top of the machine, or command it to stop through the phone App. To start it again, simply press the GO & confirm buttons to continue mowing to the set schedule. You can also easily resume mowing through the phone App.

bury the wire

Q. Do I Need To Bury The Wire In The Ground?

In short, you can but you don’t need to. By laying the boundary wire around the lawn and securing it using the supplied pegs; over the space of a few weeks it will be grown over and completely disappear into the lawn. A good tip is to cut the grass as short as possible at the perimeter in order to get the wire as close as possible to the ground. However, to allow for other maintenance such as aerating of your lawn, you can bury the wire up to 1-20cm deep to keep it at a safe distance.

Q. How Long Does It Take To Recharge The Batteries?

The Flymo EasiLife range automatically return to the charging station when its battery is getting low, and typically takes 60 mins to recharge. When fully charged, the mower automatically resumes cutting to your set schedule. You never need to manually interfere, it is a full automatic process of mowing and charging.

mow the lawn..

Q. How Long Does It Take To Mow The Lawn?

The principle of a robotic lawnmower is to continuously cut the tips of new growth of the grass so that it always maintains the same height. This leaves a beautifully even finish to the lawn. The actual cutting time to achieve this depends on the size of the lawn, as it will need a longer cutting schedule to maintain a larger lawn and shorter for a smaller lawn. The EasiLife will calculate the optimal cutting schedule for your lawn size during set-up, and spread out a required number of cutting sessions over the week that are required to keep the lawn at the same level. It typically will cut for 60 mins and charge for 60 mins in cycles spread out through the week.

where to go

Q. How Do Robotic Lawn Mowers Know Where To Go?

The working area is defined by a boundary wire laid around the edge of the lawn, and connected to the charging station. The robotic lawnmower mows in a random pattern within this area ensuring every part of the lawn is cut and also preventing track marks from forming. When EasiLife drives over the boundary wire, it detects a signal generated by the charge station telling it to stop and turn back into the lawn, making sure it’s always within the defined area.

Q. What Happens If the EasiLife Hits Trees Or Other Objects?

Flymo EasiLife is equipped with several safety sensors including collision detection. If it bumps into an obstacle on the lawn, it will stop, reverse then turn away from the obstacle and carry on in a different direction. For anything you don’t want EasiLife to bump into, you can create a loop around it with the boundary wire and it will prevent EasiLife from getting too close.

Is My Lawn Suitable for a Robotic?

uneven lawn

Q. My Lawn is Uneven, Can a Robotic Lawn Mower Cope?

The large driving wheels on the EasiLife mean the lawn does not have to be totally flat to cut the grass. However, sharp/deep holes should be avoided, and ideally filled in with soil to get an even surface and prevent your EasiLife from getting stuck.

Q. Will I Still Need An Ordinary Lawn Mower?

No, normally you don’t need an ordinary lawnmower anymore. In the event that the grass along the edges of your lawn is uncut, we recommend you use a grass trimmer to tidy the edges of your lawn.

800 m square

Q. What is the Maximum Area the Flymo EasiLife Robotic Range Can Cut?

The maximum area the robotic lawnmower can cover depends on the model you have and on the complexity of your garden. The Flymo EasiLife range offers models that can cut up to 800m². As a rough guide, the max area is included in the product name. e.g. EasiLife 500 will cover up to a 500m2 lawn (+/- 20% depending on complexity)

max incline

Q. What Is The Maximum Incline Of Slopes our EasiLife Can Cut?

The EasiLife models can cut lawns on slopes up to 35% and the EasiLife Go models up to 25% gradient. If the boundary wire runs along the bottom of a sloping wire, the maximum incline we recommend is 10%.

rainy condition

Q. Will our EasiLife Cut In Rainy Conditions?

Yes. The Flymo EasiLife is weatherproof and can cut the grass in the rain. However, it is recommended that you bring the robotic mower inside for extreme weather conditions, such as torrential rain and snowstorms. If thunderstorms are expected, you should disconnect all wires to the charging station to protect the electronic components.

my garden be

Q. How Narrow Can The Passages In My Garden Be?

A passage is a section that has a boundary wire on each side and that connects two work areas. The passage must be a minimum of 60 cm between the boundary wires. If a passage is less than 2m wide, then you will need to install a guidewire through the passage to make sure the EasiLife can regularly find its way through to the connecting area.

very long grass

Q. Can Flymo's EasiLife Handle Very Long Grass?

If the grass is excessively long and thick, upon initial start-up, you should raise the cutting height to the max and then gradually reduce it to the preferred level over several days. In normal operation, a robotic lawnmower does not need to cut long grass since it continuously maintains a well-cut lawn. When starting out, if the grass is extremely long the robot mower may struggle to cut the grass. In this instance, it's recommended that you first cut the grass with a lawnmower or grass trimmer before installing the robotic.

fruit on the ground

Q. What About Pine Cones, Tree Branches, and Fruit On The Ground?

If EasiLife ‘bumps’ into obstacles such as these, it will stop and turn to cut the lawn in a different direction. To avoid unnecessary stoppages and to maximise the EasiLife’s performance and the life of the cutting blades, these types of objects should be raked up and collected regularly. They are unlikely to damage the robotic lawnmower but reduce its overall performance and dull the blades resulting in a poorer quality finish.

Troubleshooting FAQ's

flashing light

Q. There's a Yellow Flashing Light on the Charging Station, What Does This Mean?

This either means the guide wire is not connected properly to the charging station or there is a break in the guide wire.

You should check that the guide wire connector is properly connected to the charging station. If there's a break, find where the break is and replace the damaged section of the guide wire with new wire and splice using an original coupler.

blue flashing light

Q. There's a Blue Flashing Light on the Charging Station, What Does This Mean?

This signifies an issue with the boundary wire. Either there s a break in the boundary wire or it is not connected to the charging station.

You should check that the boundary wire connectors are properly connected to the charging station. If there's a break, find where the break is and replace the damaged section of the boundary wire with a new loop wire and splice using an original coupler.

Q. The Mower Struggles to Dock or Gets Stuck When Returning to the Charging Station?

This could be down to a few reasons:

1. The guidewire is not laid in a straight line that is far enough out from the charging station, it needs to be at least 2m straight out from the centre of the charging station into the lawn,

2. The guidewire is not inserted in the guide slots/clips under the charging station base plate and is not lines up straight.

3. The charging station is not on a sufficiently level surface.

4. The boundary wire is not laid correctly at the rear of the charging station.

How to Maintain your Robotic:

lifetime

Q. What is the Lifetime of the Battery?

The battery is maintenance-free but has a life span of approximately 2-4 years, though this is dependent on several factors such as size of lawn & operating hours etc.

A longer cutting season or higher operating hours per day means that the battery will require more recharging cycles to maintain the lawn which ultimately will decrease the overall lifetime of the battery.

If the cutting times for EasiLife become noticeably shorter than normal between charges, this is a good indication that the battery may need replacing. Don’t worry, spares are available and our customer service team or your local authorised FLYMO service dealer will be able to assist you.

during the winter

Q. Do I Need to Store My Robotic Lawnmower Inside During the Winter?

In short, Yes. This will protect the battery from the cold which can effect the lifespan of the battery. Before putting your EasiLife away for the winter it should be fully charged, cleaned and wiped dry, then stored in dry, frost-free environment (eg. Garage or Shed). We also recommended that the charging station is stored indoors over the winter, but the loop wire installation can remain in the lawn.

Check out our Winter Protection Box which keeps the cable connectors safe & protected through the Winter. It is also a good time to check the blades and replace if necessary.

time of blades

Q. What is the Lifetime of the Blades?

EasiLife uses sharp precision blades which can dull over time and use or become damaged from the impact on stones which will reduce the overall cut quality. Typically we recommend checking the blades periodically (1 to 3 months) for ware, and replace when necessary.

The lifetime of the blades can vary and depends much on the conditions and size of individual lawns. The presence of objects such as pine cones, kid's toys, stones, etc. on the lawn is likely to damage the cutting blades and should be removed from the lawn frequently. You can easily replace the blades by yourself with a screwdriver.

Q. How Do I Maintain my Robotic Mower to Keep it in the Best Condition?

Replacing the blades regularly is vital to maintain an excellent cutting result. You should spend a few minutes cleaning any grass or debris built up on the wheels and chassis, and also keep the charging station clean. The EasiLife range is hose-washable so can be cleaned with water and a brush if necessary.

We offer wheel brushes which easily attach to the EasiLife Range to keep the wheels free of dirt and grass on your Flymo EasiLife Robotic Lawnmower, and House accessory to keep protect the charging station from the elements.

What are the Running Costs?

200

Q. What are the Electricity Costs of a Robotic Mower?

Although the EasiLife charging station will need to be connected to a power supply through the whole cutting season, it operates on a low voltage so is actually quite efficient to run. It draws more power when re-charging the EasiLife batteries, so the bigger the lawn, the more cutting & charging cycles, means the higher the electricity usage. An example would be for EasiLife to maintain a 500m2 lawn it would require roughly 4kWh/month of electricity. This is less than a light bulb switched on 4 hours a day for a month.

blades

Q. How Often Should I Change the Blades on My Robotic Mower?

As a guide, we recommend when cutting lawns greater than 300m² to change every 3 months. However, it's best to check the blades periodically and replace them when necessary. On smaller lawns, the blades will need to be changed less frequently. The lifetime of the blades really depends on individual lawn conditions such as the type of grass and soil.
